The Los Angeles Lakers are well into the postseason after failing to make a run in the playoffs. They finished the season 33-49 and 11th in the Western Conference. Frank Vogel was the scapegoat following the brutal season. He was fired the day after the Lakers' final regular-season game.

Now, the Lakers are on the hunt for a head coach to fill the vacancy left behind by Vogel. Adrian Wojnarowski recently explained the team's lengthy replacement process. He said on ESPN Tuesday that former Lakers head coach Phil Jackson is “certainly significantly involved in this process.”

While the former head coach is extremely involved in the process, he isn't being considered for the position. Jackson is simply advising the Lakers, just like he helped the Los Angeles team hire Frank Vogel in 2019.

Jackson isn't the only one with a voice on the matter. According to Woj, “this is very much a committee in LA putting together this coaching search.”

With the 2022 NBA Playoffs still underway, there is still plenty of time for the Lakers to find their next head coach. And, it sounds like the team is taking its time to find the perfect match.

According to Woj, the Lakers head coach hiring committee is “moving deliberately.”

“They're not doing seven or eight or nine candidates all at once,” he said on Tuesday. “They're kind of going down a list and taking their time with it. But, I think that process is going to take a bit.”
