The Los Angeles Lakers have been ravaged by injuries in LeBron James' first season with the club, which is definitely part of the reason why the Lakers will not be going to the playoffs.

Lakers guard Rajon Rondo, who has missed considerable time himself this season, said that the amount of injuries Los Angeles has experienced has been crazy:

“It’s only crazy because of the injuries,” said Rondo, according to Bill Oram of The Athletic. “I’ve never been a part of that, as far as key guys missing multiple games, 10 or more games maybe, I think five or six key guys on the team, so you can’t talk about the experiment. You can’t talk about the type of roller coaster season we had, because there was no consistency as far as players.”

JaVale McGee, one of the few Lakers players who has remained healthy throughout most of the year, agrees:

“The injuries we’ve had this year. … That’s crazy,” he said. “It’s nothing I’ve seen to where how many people are getting injured. Which forces us to play different lineups and play totally different every other month.”

McGee also added that while he thinks the premise of the Lakers bringing everyone back and hoping everyone stays healthy for next season might be a good idea, he doesn't see it happening:

“I think it’s true, but I think it’s probably not what’s going to happen,” McGee said. “It’s the NBA, so people don’t take, ‘Oh, they got injured, that’s probably why.’ No. They take it as, ‘It didn’t work.’ So I doubt they bring back the exact same group, but anything’s possible.”

The Lakers are 35-42 on the season.
