Rajon Rondo is three wins away from becoming the first player in NBA history to win a title with both the Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics, the two most storied franchises in basketball history. While Clyde Lovellette won a title with both franchise, his Lakers championship was when they were in Minneapolis.

During an interview with Jared Greenberg of NBA TV, Rondo discussed the historic opportunity that is in front of him:

Rajon Rondo won the 2008 title with the Celtics over the Lakers. Rondo then lost in the 2010 NBA Finals against L.A. Now, he has a chance to win a ring with Los Angeles against the Miami Heat.

The Lakers blew out the Heat in Game 1 of the 2020 NBA Finals on Wednesday behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Rondo played 25 minutes and finished with seven points, three rebounds and four assists. He continues to play at a high level coming off the bench.

It's still a little weird to see Rondo and James as teammates since the two stars used to have intense battles when Rondo was on the Celtics and James was on the Cleveland Cavaliers and Heat. However, the two have always had respect for each other, which is why they have been able to bond on the Lakers.

If the Lakers do wind up winning the title at Walt Disney World, Rondo will likely cement himself as a Hall of Famer. He's already a four-time All-Star and three-time assist champion. Having two rings on his résumé will be the icing on the cake.
