Although Magic Johnson stepped down as the Los Angeles Lakers' President of Basketball Operations back in April, he still showed tremendous support for the team, particularly to acting PBO and general manager Rob Pelinka.

Pelinka is grateful for the vote of confidence coming from Magic. He told ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk that despite what happened with the Lakers last season, he's happy that Johnson is still supporting the team all-out.

“I can say this, we're incredibly grateful of just kind of his supportive messages. We know he's pulling for the Lakers; he's made that very clear. And we've just appreciated the support he's shown from the outside. As you guys know there are certain league-mandated rules that we have to follow around, but he's been nothing but supportive and excited about the roster and the team and the players that we have.”

When Johnson resigned from his post with the Lakers, he made an appearance on ESPN's show ‘First Take' and pointed at Pelinka as the main reason for his departure. Magic cited that he was being backstabbed by Rob and some of his other colleagues, and that didn't sit well with him.

But when the news came out that the Lakers have acquired All-NBA forward Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans, Magic's first reaction was to congratulate Pelinka and the team's controlling owner Jeanie Buss for getting the job done.

Magic is a happy man and there is no doubt in anyone's mind that he is a Laker for life. Whatever happened between him and Pelinka is now just a thing of the past. He's moving on, and so are the Lakers, which is a good thing for both sides.
