J.J. Redick ultimately decided to re-sign with the Philadelphia 76ers, but he had an opportunity to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers. Redick told ESPN's Zach Lowe on The Lowe Post podcast that he could have signed with the Lakers this offseason. The veteran had previously revealed that he considered the Indiana Pacers before returning to the Sixers.

Redick has experience playing in Los Angeles, just not with the Lakers. He spent four seasons with the Clippers before signing with the Sixers in 2017.

The trio of LeBron James, Lonzo Ball, and Rajon Rondo will look to kick out to shooters after they penetrate into the teeth of the defense. The Duke product would have been a welcome addition to LeBron James' squad.

One of the potential weaknesses for the Lakers this season could be their ability to stretch the floor with shooters. There will be a lot of pressure on Josh Hart, Lance Stephenson, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Kyle Kuzma to knock down 3s. Redick would have easily been the best 3-point shooter on the Lakers.

But rather than head back out to Los Angeles, Redick is opting to give it a second run with Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and the Sixers. The 34-year-old had one of his best seasons in Philadelphia last year. He notched 17.1 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. He also shot an impressive 42 percent from deep.

Throughout his career, Redick has been a consistent 3-point threat. The Sixers are thrilled to have his shooting back, while the Lakers are left to wonder what could have been.
