Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball has had a rough go of things over his first 20 games in the league. The No. 2 overall pick is averaging just 8.7 points and is shooting a horrific 31 percent from the floor.

However, Ball has a believer in Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry, who is confident Ball will make the adjustments necessary to figure things out.

“He just has to be himself,” Curry said to ESPN's Chris Haynes. “He'll eventually figure it out. This league is all about adjustments. I'm confident he'll prove people wrong in time.”

Despite his horrendous shooting struggles, it’s obviously still way too early to count Ball out. He’s still just 19 years of age and he should be given a bit more time to figure things out and make the adjustments he needs, which will come through more experience.

Scoring was the major red flag on Ball coming out of college. He was never anywhere near the scorer Stephen Curry was even in college and his early-season performances reinforce the notion that his ceiling on that part of the game is fairly limited.

But as Curry notes, Ball just needs to be himself. He’ll never be a tremendous scorer and while he still needs to improve, he shouldn’t try to be one. His strengths lie in his ability to make his teammates better and he should concentrate on that instead of pressing to prove he can be a big-time scorer.
