The Los Angeles Lakers are in talks with the New Orleans Pelicans to land superstar Anthony Davis and seem to be willing to part with Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and the fourth overall pick in this year's draft.

The Pelicans also want Kyle Kuzma as part of the package, but the Lakers don't seem willing to give him up at the moment.

Plus, Marc Stein of The New York Times says that a potential deal may hinge on what the Pelicans can get for the No. 4 pick, as New Orleans is hoping to get a three-team deal going where it could flip the pick elsewhere for another player.

It seems kind of odd that the Pelicans would want to trade the No. 4 overall selection immediately, but it also speaks to just how shallow this year's draft class is outside of the top three.

Generally, you trade a pick that high in the draft as part of a package for a star player, but, obviously, with the Pelicans in all-out rebuild mode, they would probably want to acquire a young player with great upside in return, something that may be difficult to achieve.

The Lakers have made it no secret that they have been pursuing Davis for quite some time, as Los Angeles attempted to acquire Davis from New Orleans at the trade deadline back in February, but was rebuffed.

The Lakers are coming off of a very disappointing 2018-19 campaign in which they won just 37 games and missed the playoffs for the sixth straight year.
