Should the 2019-20 NBA season not resume, Los Angeles Lakers star power forward Anthony Davis will be a free agent after the Western Conference franchise failed to agree to an extension with the All-Star big man earlier in the season.
NBA insiders, however, believe the Lakers have done enough to confidently re-sign Davis in the summer or whenever the offseason happens, as they gambled on trading for the All-NBA power forward in June 2019. To recall, the Purple and Gold sent multiple first-round picks and a trio of young players to the New Orleans Pelicans for AD.

Anthony Davis led the Lakers in scoring, but he reportedly never sought an extension with the franchise. Nonetheless, the belief had always been that the AD would re-sign next summer. It is also worth noting that Davis could potentially earn more signing a maximum contract as an unrestricted free agent rather than agreeing to an extension.
Davis leaving the Lakers would be disastrous for a franchise that gave up Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart along with four first-round picks, including the fourth overall pick last June. Fortunately for them, there is a growing belief it won't happen.
