The Los Angeles Lakers have been rumored to be in pursuit of Sacramento Kings guard Buddy Hield, and according to the latest reports, they are increasing their efforts (and offer) to make a trade happen.

Per Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer, the Lakers have “stepped up their efforts” to land Hield through a trade. Aside from the initial offer of a mix of players that include Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Montrezl Harrell, the Purple and Gold are also now throwing in the 22nd pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

Multiple league sources say Los Angeles has stepped up their efforts by adding the no. 22 pick to a deal that’d include Montrezl Harrell and Kyle Kuzma or Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

Buddy Hield is known as one of the better shooters in the NBA, and his outside shot will certainly make a difference for the Lakers devoid of reliable scoring options outside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Kyle Kuzma, for his part, might also benefit with a change in scenery and bigger role. He has already proven with the Lakers that he can score, but there won't be a lot of opportunities for him as long as he plays behind Anthony Davis or as a third or fourth option on offense.

It remains to be seen what the Lakers will do to get Hield or if they can even pull it off. One thing is certain, though: the 2021 NBA Draft won't be as silent as it was last year.
