Larry Bird may have already stepped down as President of Basketball Operations for the Indiana Pacers, but he is not leaving the organization completely.

The 60-year-old NBA great confirmed during his press conference that he will still be part of the team and will now focus on scouting for new talent. He also added that he has loved the Pacers since he was kid and even dating back to their ABA days, which will make it difficult for him not to help out in any capacity.

With his experience and stature, as a player, coach, and front office executive, Bird could make these traits work to his advantage in terms of becoming a magnet for potential additions. His role will be very important, especially with the impending free agency of their franchise player, Paul George, who made it clear he wants to win.

However, their current roster needs an upgrade in order to compete with the title favorites, and Bird could be the key to improving it.
