Unlike in years past, the MVP winner for this season will be announced through the NBA Awards Show in New York City on June 26, 2017.

As part of the broadcast deal with TNT, the league will acknowledge the winners through a program instead of awarding the individuals before the start of a game, usually in the playoffs.

This season will mark the most games the network will cover. It will feature 64 games in the regular season and 40 playoff games. TNT will also be the exclusive broadcaster of the 2017 All-Star weekend in New Orleans. Both parties signed the deal back in 2014 and will start to take effect this year up to the 2024-2025 season. It is expected to help increase the NBA's popularity even more and reach more fans not just in the country, but around the world.

Other awards that will be presented on the show are the Kia NBA Defensive Player of the Year, Kia NBA Rookie of the Year, Kia NBA Sixth Man Award, Kia NBA Most Improved Player and Coach of the Year. The venue for the other awards to be given like the All-NBA teams, as well as presenters, will be announced on a later date.

Winners of these awards from last season are Stephen Curry (MVP), Kawhi Leonard (DPOY), Karl-Anthony Towns (ROTY), Jamal Crawford (Sixth Man), C.J. McCollum (MIP), and Steve Kerr (COTY).

The Awards Show is expected to be a star-studded event, with NBA greats, coaches, executives, and celebrities to all take part in it.
