With NBA fans locked in at home during the NBA restart, several players earned a boost in their social media following. But it's still Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James who reigns supreme.

Per Alex Kennedy of BasketballNews.Com, James acquired some four million followers on Twitter and Instagram since the NBA season resumed on July 30 to date. Miami Heat rookie guard Tyler Herro came in second with close to 800,000 new followers. Damian Lillard of the Portland Blazers came in fourth followed by Dallas Mavericks sensation Luka Doncic. Jamal Murray of the Denver Nuggets closed out the top five.

James remains the most popular sports figure in basketball. What made this possible is that he's still playing at an elite level in his 17th year in the league. Amid all the hype bestowed and hate hurled at him, James manages to focus on basketball — the game that he knows by heart.

Herro, for his part, is one of the fastest rising stars in the league. The 20-year-old rookie has wowed basketball fans for his supreme confidence in his abilities. This has greatly contributed to the Heat's success in the seeding games as well as in the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Lillard made the headlines once again for draining 3-pointers from the logo as if it was a shooting drill. He also had a mini-feud with the Los Angeles Clippers, particularly Patrick Beverley and Paul George.

Both Murray and Doncic got their following boost from their stellar performances in the bubble. Murray himself had several scoring explosions while Doncic drained a cold-blooded game-winning three over the Clippers. But despite the amazing performances from all these stars, LeBron James still reigns supreme.
