LeBron James is joining former First Lady Michelle Obama in a new voting initiative for the upcoming general election.

James' More Than A Vote group and Obama's When We All Vote campaign are teaming up to hold sponsored events and encourage early voting. The groups will also provide amenities and transportation to early voting sites.

In-person events are planned for Atlanta; Charlotte, North Carolina; Detroit; Los Angeles; Milwaukee; Orlando, Florida; and Philadelphia. They will be held within walking distance of early voting sites and include free food from the nonprofit World Central Kitchen, founded by celebrity chef Jose Andres, DoorDash and other providers.

Music, celebrity appearances, personal protective equipment and support for voters' rights from the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under the Law and the Election Protection coalition will also be provided. Lyft has agreed to provide discounted transportation.

LeBron James has established a relationship with the Obama family over the years, and now they will pool resources to try and galvanize underrepresented voting communities ahead of Nov. 3. The main goal is to ensure that Joe Biden will defeat Donald Trump, but there are plenty of other important races to vote in around the country.

James was insistent about maintaining strong messaging throughout the course of the Orlando bubble.

Numerous players and organizations participated in protests this summer following the death of George Floyd this summer in a demand for social justice and change. The NBA also allowed players to wear social justice messages and other thematic statements on their jerseys during the restart.

Needless to say, the league has been very invested in prioritizing civic responsibilities ahead of the upcoming election. LeBron James has been at the forefront, and he and Michelle Obama will join forces to help various segments of the population use their votes to manifest change.
