Lionel Messi has finally delivered that elusive international trophy to Argentina, and what a moment it was for the Barcelona striker and football legend.

The Argentines made sure to get the job done in the Copa America final on Saturday, beating Brazil 1-0 behind an Angel Di Maria lob shot on the 22nd minute of the game.  La Albiceleste held on despite a flurry of attacks from Neymar and his Brazil squad, who actually had 12 shot attempts–two of which were on target.

Sure enough, after the final whistle to signify the win for Argentina, the whole team erupted in celebration. At the center of it was Messi, who was filled with emotions for finally getting that silverware for his home country.

As for the rest of the Argentina players, they made sure to properly give Messi the acknowledgement he deserves after years of heartbreaks by tossing him in the air. Just perfect for the moment.

As mentioned, it was Lionel Messi's first trophy with Argentina and it came at the perfect times, with  talks about the 2021 Copa America possibly being the last chance for the 34-year-old to help his team win.

For what it's worth, before the finale on Saturday, Messi shared that he “would swap all my Golden Boots for one trophy for Argentina.” Now, it looks like he doesn't need to.
