Poor Calvin Johnson. He's been retired for some time now, claims he wants to stay retired, but people just won't let Megatron be.

According to a report by ESPN, teams across the National Football League have reached out to the Detroit Lions about potentially trading for the rights of the retired receiver.

Did we mention that Calvin Johnson has been exhausting with his words with how he has zero plans to come out of retirement? Because, you know, this seems like a no-go from the start if he's unwilling to come out of retirement.

However, according to the report, with the Lions knowing Johnson is unlikely to care, they are allowing teams to reach out to his agent about a possible deal. It does make sense for Detroit, even if the franchise also believes Johnson won't return, as this is just a “go see what you can do” type of approach. If it works, great. If not, no big deal.

At least two teams have been anxious enough to inquire within the past week. If any team decides it wants to add a pricey receiver for a second-half run, Detroit would be willing to listen, sources said.

From my perspective, Johnson should do whatever he wants (just as he has been). The Lions have nothing to lose by letting teams ask around and teams won't risk losing it all by reaching out to Johnson's people.

Still, again, this seems like something that won't happen. Not now. Not next year. Not ever.
