Calvin Johnson is set to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame next month in Canton, Ohio. While he will give an 8-minute speech to thank various people for his terrific NFL career, the Detroit Lions won't be one of them.

It's been five years now since Johnson abruptly retired from the game at just 30-years-old after a standoff with the Lions. He isn't ready to forget the saga, either.

“I’m definitely going to bring up a lot of people that I’m thankful for,” Johnson said Friday. “There are so many people during my career that had an impact and those specific people I’m going to try (thank) . . . at least I have them on the ticker. But I’m not going to mention everybody. As far as the Lions, hey, I got nothing to say.”

Megatron wanted to take his talents elsewhere but the Lions vetoed that idea and even made him pay back $16 million of his signing bonus. By no surprise, that left Johnson furious.

“It’s kind of been a standstill there,” Johnson said. “I’m five years out now. I’m not wasting any time waiting on them.”

Nevertheless, his time in the league was nothing short of outstanding. Johnson made six Pro Bowls and was a 3-time All-Pro as well. He also spent his entire career with the Lions.

Johnson will be joining the likes of Peyton Manning, Charles Woodson, and Drew Pearson in Canton.
