Things just keep getting more brutal for the Detroit Lions. After suffering another loss on a game-winning field goal as time expired, Dan Campbell's squad received even worse news following the game.
The top receiver for the Lions this year, Quintez Cephus, suffered a broken collarbone in the loss and could be done for the season.
Quintez Cephus is slated to undergo surgery and is facing a three-month recovery, source said. So unless Detroit rallies from 0-5 to make a playoff run, Cephus' season is almost surely over. https://t.co/Eo6BXwGFU0

Cephus had accumulated 15 receptions for 204 yards and two touchdowns for the Lions on the season. After Kenny Golladay left in the offseason via free agency, Tyrell Williams was expected to take over as the No. 1 wideout in Detroit. Williams was placed on injured reserve early in the year, leading to the promotion for Cephus.
It's been a tough start for the Lions who are 0-5 but it's not due to a lack of effort. Dan Campbell's message seems to be resonating with his team. The reality for Detroit is they just don't have a lot of talent on their roster from top to bottom. Still, they could easily have two wins if not for an NFL record, 66-yard field goal by Justin Tucker and a 54-yarder by Greg Joseph.
Detroit just can't catch a break and now it's gotten worse with the injury to Cephus. The Lions will look to bounce back in Week 6 when they head back home to take on the Cincinnati Bengals.
