Golden Tate has had the opportunity to play with a couple of great teams during his NFL career. On those teams, he’s also been able to play with some truly talented quarterbacks. However, only one has earned a spot at the top of the list, when it comes to Tate, and that quarterback resides in Detroit.

Speaking to Click On Detroit about his time on the Lions, Tate revealed that he thinks that Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford is the best quarterback that he’s ever played for.

“The guy can flat out play, he’s tough, and his attitude is amazing and he just wants to play ball. For me I have nothing but praises for him. It’s almost unfair despite how great he is, he doesn’t have a ring to show for it.”

After starting his career with the Seattle Seahawks and Russell Wilson and winning a Super Bowl with Nick Foles and the Philadelphia Eagles, the revelation might have come as a shock. Tate seems sure in his praise of Stafford, though, and it isn’t exactly hard to see why.

Despite not having a Super Bowl title or playoff success to his name, Stafford is still considered one of the better quarterbacks in the league. Equipped with an incredibly strong arm, Stafford has become one of the more reliable quarterbacks when it comes to passing yards and ability to play through anything.

As he tries to lead the Lions back into the postseason, he’ll at least have the praise of a former teammate to lean back on.

For Tate, he’ll move on the New York Giants, where he’ll get to catch passes from a two-time Super Bowl champion in Eli Manning, and perhaps a young and upcoming quarterback in Daniel Jones.
