The Detroit Lions had a chance to win their Week 1 contest versus the Chicago Bears in dramatic fashion if rookie D'Andre Swift were to catch a pinpoint pass from Matthew Stafford. After dropping the go-ahead score, Stafford said he wouldn't hesitate to throw Swift the ball again when asked about the heartbreaking play.

“No, not at all,” Stafford said, via Carlos Monarrez of the Detroit Free Press. “I’m throwing it to him a hundred times out of a hundred. Trust that kid. He’ll make a play.”

The Lions held a 23-6 at one point in their bout against the Bears in Week 1. However, Chicago would make a valiant comeback, taking a four-point lead after Mitchell Trubisky connected with Anthony Miller for a touchdown with under two minutes remaining.

Just as we've seen plenty of times in his career, Stafford had a chance to lead Detroit's offense down the field for a game-winning drive. The veteran quarterback was able to lead the Lions into the red zone with time winding down.

Then, with 11 seconds remaining in the game, on second down, Stafford found an open Swift in the end zone. The gunslinging quarterback delivered a perfect pass into the hands of the first-year running back. Unfortunately, Swift was unable to corral the pass as the ball fluttered to the ground.

Following his inopportune drop, Detroit proceeded to lose to the Bears after failing to score a touchdown on the final play of the game. Even though Swift was partly to blame for the loss, Stafford isn't wavering his confidence in the rookie second-round pick.
