The Detroit Lions don't have anything to play for on Sunday, but they'll have their starting quarterback under center. Despite dealing with an assortment of injuries, Matthew Stafford is set to start for the Lions in their regular-season finale versus the Minnesota Vikings, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Ahead of Sunday's contest, Stafford is on the injury report for a rib injury, a thumb injury, and an ankle injury. Stafford suffered an ankle injury early in last week's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, causing him to miss the majority of the contest.

Even though he's dealt with a variety of injuries and other obstacles, Stafford has played in all 15 games heading into Week 17. The veteran Lions signal-caller has thrown for 3,791 yards, 23 touchdowns, and nine interceptions while posting a 5-10 record in the process.

With the Lions out of the playoff race, the only thing that could change on Sunday is where they will be picking in the 2021 NFL Draft. However, Stafford may be realizing that this could be his final game with the Lions, which could be incentivizing him to play through multiple ailments.

Seeing that Detroit is likely going to hire a new head coach, it remains to be seen what Stafford's future looks like with the Lions. He's spent his first 12 seasons with the organization, but the next general manager and head coach could prefer rebuilding, which would involve parting ways with Stafford.

Provided that, Stafford may be playing in his final game with the Lions against the Vikings while also giving other teams a chance to see what he could bring to their franchise.
