Magic Legends is releasing in Open Beta on March 23, 2021 as an Epic Games Store exclusive.
MAGIC LEGENDS IS AN EPIC GAMES STORE EXCLUSIVE
Magic Legends, the upcoming action RPG game set in the Magic: The Gathering universe, will soon enter Open Beta. As a multiplayer game, you can team up with up to two other Planeswalkers as you explore the planes of Dominaria, Zendikar, and Innistrad. Open Beta will be exclusively available in the Epic Games Store.
On top of the Beta announcement, Magic Legends also recently revealed their “Planeswalker Bundle.” Players can purchase this bundle to obtain exclusive skins and cosmetics, as well as a Gilded Lotus artifact and an Experimental Sentinel creature.
Unlike the popular digitization of the card game, Magic: The Gathering Arena, Magic Legends will not have a stand-alone client. MtGA is notable for having its own client, not found on either Steam or Epic Games Store. Magic Legends goes the other way, instead. Launching the game on the Epic Games client will open the game's Arc Games launcher. This might also mean that the Closed Beta players who have been playing on Arc Games will be able to interact with those who play the game via Epic.
The game will use elements from the source material as part of its mechanics and features. Core to its gameplay is its Deckbuilding gameplay mechanic. Looking back at its card game roots, Magic Legends will still make use of a deck of cards. These decks will determine what the player character can cast in combat. Also, just like the source material, players will be able to wield the five colors of Magic in this game.
