Bismack Biyombo’s basketball skill set is a limited one. That said, he continues to hang around in the NBA because he does two things very well. One is rebounding and the other is sending opponents’ shots to the moon. During Saturday’s home game against the Miami Heat, Biyombo stayed true to that characterization by scoring 10 points, hauling down 10 rebounds, and rejecting four shots.

One of those blocks was a savage two-handed denial of Heat center Hassan Whiteside’s shot from point-blank range.

Sit down, Hassan, Biyombo!

Orlando did not waste Bismack Biyombo’s great defensive effort, as the Magic managed to score on the other end of the floor via an Aaron Gordon 3-pointer.

Biyombo has found himself in an expanded role with the Magic after starting center Nikola Vucevic went down with a hand injury. Vucevic won’t likely be back to action until at least February, so Biyombo will have to hold the fort for Orlando’s frontline for the meantime.

Bismack Biyombo, who signed a four-year, $72 million deal with the Magic last July, is averaging 8.3 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game since Vucevic suffered his injury back on a Nov. 23 in a 130-103 road loss to the Washington Wizards.
