Orlando Magic officials have not disclosed a timeline for point guard Markelle Fultz's return, so we still don't know when the former No. 1 overall draft pick is going to play basketball again, according to The Athletic.
Fultz is still recovering from Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. The Magic acquired Fultz from the Philadelphia 76ers at the 2019 February trade deadline. He has yet to play in a game for Orlando.
Magic officials, reluctant to put pressure on Fultz, have not disclosed a timeline for his return. He has made progress, though. On Aug. 7, video surfaced on Twitter of Fultz shooting mid-range jumpers during drills with two members of the Magic’s video/player development staff. Fultz’s shooting stroke looked sound. That does not mean that he is ready to play full-contact five-on-five games, however.
Markelle Fultz has career averages of 7.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting 41.4 percent from the field, 26.7 percent from beyond the arc and 53.4 percent from the free-throw line.
Fultz has only played in 33 NBA games due to scapular muscle imbalance in his right shoulder and Neurogenic Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. The Magic are hoping a change of scenery and reduced expectations will help Fultz find his game and confidence.
The NBA community is rooting for Fultz. The start to his pro career has been one of the more bizarre stories in recent history.
Hopefully, the youngster plays for the Magic next season and flourishes.
