Manchester United officially welcomes new interim manager Ralf Rangnick

Manchester United, Ralf Rangnick

Manchester United has announced the appointing of Ralf Rangnick as the club’s official interim manager.

A new beginning seems to be waiting for Manchester United with Ralf Rangnick set to manage the club for the remainder of the current season.

Contrary to what some might have expected, Rangnick will not be staying as the club’s manager as he will continue working for the Red Devils as a technical advisor once the campaign ends.

“I am excited to be joining Manchester United and focused on making this a successful season for the club,” Rangnick said in a statement via Manchester United’s official website. “The squad is full of talent and has a great balance of youth and experience. All my efforts for the next six months will be on helping these players fulfil their potential, both individually and, most importantly, as a team.”

“Beyond that, I look forward to supporting the club’s longer-term goals on a consultancy basis,” he continued.

Manchester United football director John Murtough will be hoping to get the most out of Rangnick’s years of experience as a tactician.

“He was our number one candidate for interim manager, reflecting the invaluable leadership and technical skills he will bring from almost four decades of experience in management and coaching,” Murtough stated. “Everyone at the club is looking forward to working with him during the season ahead, and then for a further two years in his advisory role.”

While the club still works on Rangnick’s working visa, Manchester United will still be spearheaded by caretaker manager Michael Carrick.
