The Detroit Lions are set to take on the Houston Texans on Thanksgiving, with Matthew Stafford poised to become part of NFL history. With another Thanksgiving start under his belt, Stafford will be joining Troy Aikman as the only quarterbacks to have 10 career starts on Thanksgiving, per NFL Network's Rich Eisen.

Of course, the Dallas Cowboys and the Lions have traditionally played on Thanksgiving for plenty of years. Aikman was on the Cowboys from 1989-2000, playing in 11 Thanksgiving games during his career in Dallas.

The three-time Super Bowl champion for the Cowboys would record a 6-5 record on Thanksgiving. On the other hand, Stafford is going to making his 10th start on Thanksgiving day and is looking to improve his record on the holiday.

In his first nine starts on Thanksgiving, Stafford has posted a 5-4 record, losing his last two appearances. This will be the second time Stafford has faced the Texans on Thanksgiving, making it the first time the two teams have met on Thanksgiving since the 2012 season.

At this time a year ago, Stafford was unable to start on Thanksgiving due to a back injury. David Blough would make the start for the Lions as Detroit would narrowly lose to the Chicago Bears at home.

Given that, Stafford is likely thankful to have the chance to play in another Thanksgiving game due to the circumstances he was in a season ago. While the Lions aren't winning many games still, Stafford continues to be a bright spot on a losing franchise, cementing himself in the record books on Thursday.
