Dallas Mavericks forward Luka Doncic is only in his second season in the NBA, but he's already getting comfortable with trash talking. The Slovenian-born star posted his ninth 30-point triple-double of this season in Monday night's victory over the Bulls, and he talked a little smack a long the way.

Doncic scored 21 of his 38 points in the third quarter alone. As the teams made their way to the bench at the end of the frame, Luka politely reminded Bulls guard Shaq Harrison that he had already racked up 34 points through the first three quarters of play between the Bulls and Mavs. Harrison was complaining to the officials about a hold, which led to Doncic’s expression.

Bulls guard Kris Dunn had a few words for the Mavs' bench after picking Doncic's pocket in the fourth quarter. However, Dallas quickly answered back with a pair of threes. In that same span, Doncic scored over Dunn.

Doncic went on to finish with 38 points on 14-of-24 shooting from the field (5-of-10 from beyond the arc), 11 rebounds and 10 assists in the 118-110 victory. It was his 11th triple-double of this season and ninth such performance with 30 or more points. Impressive, to be sure, but he isn't letting the numbers go to his head.

“I don't mind, but [it's] just stats. I think every game is another stat,” Doncic said, via ESPN. “For me, all I would say is it's more important to get a win.”

According to ESPN, Doncic's nine triple-doubles with 30 or more points is the most by any player in the NBA. In fact, it's more than all other players combined, with Lakers superstar LeBron James having three such games to his credit this season. Luka has scored at least 35 points in a triple-double six times this season.

Though he's only in his second season of NBA service, it's clear that Doncic is one of the best players in today's game. His first and second-year numbers are comparable to some of the NBA's all-time greats, and it seems he's gaining more and more confidence, as his trash talking can attest.

In his 32 appearances with the Mavs this season, Doncic has racked up averages of 29.7 points on 47.4 percent shooting from the field (33.1 percent from beyond the arc), 9.7 rebounds, 8.9 assists and 1.2 steals in 32.8 minutes per outing.

Doncic has already recorded 19 triple-double performances over the course of his career (NBA-high 11 this season), and he's only 20 years of age. According to ESPN, the next players on the list for most triple-doubles before turning 21 are Magic Johnson (seven) and LeBron James (five).

Doncic is reserved most of the time, but it's clear that he's willing to jump in on a bit of trash talking — when the situation calls for it. Let's see how that side of his game develops in the future.
