The Dallas Mavericks were able to build a foundation after acquiring Kristaps Porzingis from the New York Knicks back in February. The Latvian star and Rookie of the Year winner Luka Doncic are the  cornerstones for the Mavs.

With Luka and KP locked up, fans expected the Mavs to provide the tandem a good supporting cast. Unfortunately, they missed out on the top free agents they tried to acquire: Defense-minded guard Patrick Beverley chose to return to the Los Angeles Clippers, and two-time NBA champion Danny Green joined the Los Angeles Lakers.

But for Mavs owner Mark Cuban, there's nothing to worry about. He's not really panicking about the fact that the team failed to land its top targets, simply because Doncic and Porzingis are on the team.

The Mavericks' only major acquisition in free agency is Seth Curry, whom they lured away from the Portland Trail Blazers. Aside from that, they have re-signed promising youngsters Dwight Powell and Maxi Kleber to multi-year deals. There is no doubt that the team is young, talented, and has promise, but one can argue that the Mavs are not good enough to contend for the playoffs next season.

Still, Dallas isn't too worried about the future. The Mavericks have two of the NBA's brightest rising stars to build around, which is already a positive sign. It is unclear what the future holds for the Mavs, but they're willing to take things one step at a time.

Cuban still believes that they will be championship contenders in a few years, and a disappointing offseason won't change his mind.
