The Dallas Mavericks will waive veteran big man Zach Randolph, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
The Mavs acquired Zach Randolph on Wednesday from the Sacramento Kings in the Harrison Barnes trade. The 37-year-old is making $11,692,308 this season, the final year of his contract.
Randolph didn't play at all this season for the Kings. He appeared in 59 games last season for Sacramento and put up 14.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 47.3 percent from the field, 34.7 percent from beyond the arc and 78.5 percent from the free-throw line.
Randolph has been in the NBA since 2001. He began his career with the Portland Trail Blazers. Since then, the Indiana native has played for the New York Knicks, LA Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies and Kings.
Randolph has averaged at least 20.0 points per game five times in his career. He has averaged a double-double for an entire season nine times as well. The 18-year pro has career averages of 16.6 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 1,116 games. Randolph is a two-time All-Star, won the 2004 Most Improved Player of the Year award, and made the All-NBA team in 2011.
It's unknown if Randolph will garner any interest from teams once he reaches a buyout with the Mavs and clears waivers. We'll likely find out more about Randolph's future next week.
