Reports have surfaced about the Dallas Mavericks' displeasure with center DeAndre Jordan's ‘selfishness' thus far. However, point guard Dennis Smith Jr. has quickly downplayed any notion of tension in the locker room.

It is no secret that the Mavericks have gotten off to a slow start to the 2017-18 NBA season. Regardless, Smith took to Instagram to reassure that there is no bad blood:

Reports indicated that Jordan may be more concerned with his individual performance rather than helping the team win. It pointed an instance that involved the Mavs' big man seemingly pushing rookie forward Luka Doncic out of the way for a rebound. Regardless, it is still far-fetched to assume the team can already be fed up this early in the season.

Although it remains to be seen whether or not Jordan is part of their problems, there is still no denying that Dallas has struggled mightily to start the year. The Mavericks had hoped his presence would help fortify their issues on the defensive end. Unfortunately, that has not been the case as they currently rank 22nd in the league in defensive rating.

Fortunately, there is a silver lining to their struggles. The Mavericks have plenty of time to try and get Jordan to coexist within the roster. If they feel that it does not work out, they can part ways after the season since they only signed him to a one-year deal. At this point, the bigger concern is whether or not his presence will be detrimental to the development of the young core. However, that may be a bit of a stretch considering Smith's recent post.
