Mavs legend Dirk Nowitzki has a charity tennis tournament coming up, and he's reportedly bringing Luka Doncic on for the event. However, Nowitzki is doing a bit of scouting beforehand.

Nowitzki recently joined Ben and Skin to discuss his upcoming charity tournament. During the interview, the German-born star noted that Doncic is keeping his tennis skills under wraps:

B&S: Have you been able to get some scouts out to look at him?

Nowitzki: So, you know, he's keeping it under wraps. I didn't know that he can really play a little bit. He hit me up a couple of days ago and was like, ‘No invite for me? What's going on' So I said, ‘Can you play?' And he said, ‘I'm okay.'

Dirk says he invited Doncic over for a bit of sly scouting, but Luka never showed. Despite that fact, the Mavs icon is confident that Luka will do just fine at the charity event:

Nowitzki: As you guys have seen, (Luka) is an entertainer. He'll be great, no matter what his skill level is. But he never showed up yesterday, so it's gonna be a little bit of a mystery.

This year’s Dirk Nowitzki Pro Celebrity Tennis Classic is set for Sunday, Sept. 15. The event will start at 11 a.m. CT at the SMU Tennis Center. Several other famous athletes are expected to be on hand, including former Mavs point guard Steve Nash.

Let's see if Luka has an answer for Dirk's smashing serve.
