Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki is having the time of his life after hanging up his jerseys and sneakers for good. For the German, retirement life is everything he dreamed of.
Per Mavs reporter Dwain Price, Nowitzki shared his sentiments on retirement life:
“It’s been a blast! It's been everything I've dreamed of – drinking everything and eating everything in sight on vacation and not really worrying about anything about staying in shape.”

After 21 seasons in the NBA, Nowitzki announced his retirement in their final home game of the 2018-2019 season. The following game, a loss to the San Antonio Spurs, Nowitzki played his final NBA game.
Though most Mavs fans felt that the 40-year-old was going to retire very soon, Nowitzki's announcement everyone by surprise. After all, it's rare that a player announces his retirement right after the game in front of the fans.
Despite this, Nowitzki's fans welcomed his decision with open arms. In his 21-year stint in the league, he won a championship, was named league MVP, and was selected into the All-Star and All NBA teams, among other impressive milestones.
These accomplishments are more than enough for Nowitzki to be considered one of the greats. And because of this, he deserves to enjoy his life after basketball.
