NBA Hall of Famer Jason Kidd, just like the rest of us, is really impressed with Dallas Mavericks rookie phenom Luka Doncic.

Doncic is the early frontrunner for the Rookie of the Year award. The 19-year-old is averaging 17.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game while shooting 42.8 percent from the field, 37.1 percent from beyond the arc and 79.4 percent from the free-throw line.

The Mavs are 14-11 on the season, eighth place in the rugged Western Conference and Doncic's stellar play is the main reason Dallas is playing well this season.

Jason Kidd, who won a championship with the Mavs in 2011, says the sky is the limit for Luka Doncic:

“Oh, man, he can pass,” Kidd said, via Dallasnews.com. “I think he's a really good player. He's way beyond being 19 years old.

“Just his feels and his mannerisms, always in control. I think he really understands the game. He's got a great basketball I.Q.”

Luka Doncic is indeed a special player already. Many were wondering what type of impact Doncic would have in the NBA and he is showing that he is the real deal. His IQ level, like Kidd says, is off the charts and the maturity level he shows on the court for being such a young player is fascinating.

One of the knocks on Luka Doncic was he was going to have trouble creating separation against NBA talent due to his lack of quickness. Turns out, his stepback is so good that he doesn’t need any crossovers to get his jump shot off.
