One of the biggest knocks on Kristaps Porzingis' career has been his tendency to be prone to injury. The Dallas Mavericks star has the tools to become an elite player in today's NBA, but his body has betrayed him countless of times. It's a major factor when fans criticized Cuban in trading for him.

With the Mavs, Porzingis has been average at least, but his durability has been put into question again. During their match against the Pacers, the Latvian star had to leave the game due to soreness in his right knee. (via Callie Caplan)

As Tim McMahon pointed out here, that right knee is the same one that has been bothering Porzingis all his career. The Mavs season could be derailed once again if their complementary star to Luka Doncic misses significant time off the court.

The Mavericks under Jason Kidd have been on a rollercoaster ride this season. The firing of long-time coach Rick Carlisle was supposed to herald in a new age for this team. However, the Mavs have seemingly struggled to adapt to Kidd's schemes at the beginning of the season. They were one of the worse teams to start the year.

As of late, the Mavs have turned around their fortunes. They now sit at 5th place in the Western Conference, which is what most fans expected out of them this season. If Kristaps Porzingis' knee injury does prove to be a long-term ailment, though, that position could very well be lost unless they replace his production somehow.
