Dallas Mavericks fans finally had something to celebrate about after Kristaps Porzingis finally made his 2020-21 NBA regular season debut on Wednesday. It didn't take long for The Unicorn to make an impact, as he splashed a triple early in the Mavs' road game against the Charlotte Hornets at Spectrum Center.

At the 10-minute mark of the first quarter, Porzingis was lounging a few steps behind the 3-point area at the top of the key. His fellow superstar Luka Doncic knows all too well that the 7-foot-3 Latvian is money from that range, so he quickly gave the rock up.

Porzingis looked like he didn't miss a beat following that long lay-off, as he cashed-in on the deep triple for his first points of the season.

Kristaps Porzingis was supposed to make his highly-anticipated return against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night, but that match was postponed to a later date due to the NBA's strict COVID-19 health and safety protocols. The 25-year-old slotman last played in the opening round of the 2020 NBA Playoffs against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Mavs were eventually eliminated in six games after Porzingis went down with a lateral meniscus injury in his right knee.

Dallas, of course, has been extremely careful with their prized big considering the history of injuries he has dealt with in the past. Prior to arriving in the Big D in that blockbuster trade with the New York Knicks in 2019, Porzingis was also sidelined with a serious ACL injury. He came back strong for the Mavs last season, notching 20.4 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks while shooting 42.7 percent from the field and 35.2 from deep in 57 games.
