Despite not being able to play for months due to the NBA hiatus, Dallas Mavericks star Kristaps Porzingis believes his chemistry with Mavs superstar Luka Doncic didn't take a step back.

While speaking to Mavs reporters during a conference call on Friday, Porzingis said his rapport with Doncic will only grow moving forward as they return to practice together.

This is certainly music to the ears of Mavs fans. Porzingis and Doncic are the two staples of the franchise in the post-Dirk Nowitzki era, so it's good to know that they have a great relationship, both on and off the court.

The Mavs were in seventh place in the Western Conference standings before the season was suspended in March due to COVID-19. Dallas has already clinched a playoff spot, but that doesn't mean the team shouldn't take the eight seeding games seriously before the 2020 postseason starts.

In his first season with the Mavs after beginning his pro career with the New York Knicks, Porzingis was averaging 19.2 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting 42.0 percent from the field, 34.9 percent from beyond the arc and 77.6 percent from the free-throw line.

Although KP did experience knee soreness in both of his legs this campaign, it appears the 7-footer is ready to roll for the “bubble” games, which will start on July 30.

The only way the Mavs are going to go on a deep postseason run is if Porzingis and Doncic play like superstars. It's going to be exciting to watch these two youngsters make their respective NBA playoff debuts.
