New Dallas Mavericks acquisition Kristaps Porzingis is anxious to play with Mavs star Luka Doncic next season, and he believes they can be a “special duo together.”

Porzingis won't play this season as he continues to recover from a torn left ACL he suffered last season with the New York Knicks. In the meantime, KP will get a front row seat to watch Doncic play and learn his tendencies, so he can get a sense of what it will take to play with the 19-year-old phenom.

“I’m happy for him, first of all,” Porzingis told Dwain Price of Mavs.com. “I’m happy that he’s able to come in the league and make an impact like that right away.

“It makes me excited and anxious to get back on the court and play with him and share the court with him. I think we can be a pretty special duo together.”

Everyone wants Kristaps Porzingis and Luka Doncic to be the next Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash in Dallas. While the Mavs are hoping that happens, it's going to take time for the two youngsters to develop chemistry on the court.

However, you can just imagine how lethal Doncic and Porzingis are going to be in the pick-and-pop/roll game. Luka has already demonstrated he has elite court vision, and we know that Porzingis is a sniper from beyond the arc.
