Dallas Mavericks forward Luka Doncic is questionable for Monday night's game against the San Antonio Spurs. The young Mavs star is experiencing lower back soreness.

Doncic has been everything the Mavericks could have hoped for coming into this season. Doncic was originally drafted by the Atlanta Hawks, but the Mavs and Hawks agreed to swap players. Trae Young and a future first-round pick were sent sent to Atlanta.

Doncic has averaged 18.7 points, 4.0 assists, and 6.2 rebounds in six games this season. To further prove how fantastic Doncic has been:

Doncic has proven to be versatile on offense, shooting 34.9 percent from 3-point range (15-49).

The Mavs are 2-4 this season and find themselves ranked 10th in the Western Conference right behind the Sacramento Kings. The season is still young, but a future star like Doncic could help the team return to relevancy in the West.

The only downside for Doncic this season are his turnovers, as he is coughing up four turnovers a game. If the Mavs rookie can clean his game up a bit, he'll likely be even more effective on the court.

Dennis Smith Jr. and Jose Barea will presumably get more minutes if Doncic is forced to miss Monday's game against San Antonio. Smith is averaging 16.4 points, 4.6 assists, 2.8 rebounds and a steal a game.

Luka Doncic has a very bright future in the NBA. If Doncic and Smith can grow together, they will no doubt be the future of the Dallas Mavericks.
