Dallas Mavericks sophomore sensation Luka Doncic is already garnering a reputation as one of the most lethal offensive players in the NBA.

But with the Mavericks falling out of the playoffs after a Game 6 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday, Luka Doncic will head into the offseason with the hopes to improve his shooting.

Luka Doncic said he intends to work on all aspects of his game in the offseason, but made sure to single out his desire to become a more efficient perimeter shooter:

“There’s a lot of things to improve on,” Doncic said, via Ben Golliver of the Washington Post. “You can’t work on just one thing, you’ve got to work on everything. But I’ll especially work on my shooting. That’s my key.”

Luka Doncic has plenty of range, and he uses an assortment of step-back dribbles to create separation and launch from deep.

But while Luka has plenty of volume from beyond the arc, he does not have the rosiest of shooting numbers. Luka Doncic took 8.9 three-pointers per game during the regular season, converting on just 31.6 percent of those attempts.

The 21-year-old had slightly better success in the Clippers series, making 12 of his 35 triples, but Luka Doncic also went 1-for-6 in Game 3 and Game 5, and his perimeter stroke has been prone to streakiness.

There is no mistaking the point: Luka Doncic is an elite scorer and playmaker. Luka's combination of handles and physical frame make it nearly impossible to guard him when he gets into the painted area.

However, Doncic knows he must improve as a shooter if he hopes to take the next step in his personal evolution.
