Could the Dallas Mavericks sneak up on everyone in free agency this summer?

According to Chris Sheridan of Sheridan Hoops, the Mavericks are expecting to get a meeting with Kawhi Leonard.

Now, just because Leonard is meeting with Dallas does not mean that the Mavs are near the top of his list, nor does it mean he is even seriously considering signing with them, but it's simply a good business decision to hear them out.

Plus, with Luka Doncic and a potentially healthy Kristaps Porzingis, the Mavericks could be an interesting team heading into the 2019-20 campaign. If Porzingis is right, a trio of Leonard, Porzingis and Doncic could very well be a title contender.

Still, the general consensus is that Leonard will either re-sign with the Toronto Raptors or join the Los Angeles Clippers.

Ever since being traded to the Raptors from the San Antonio Spurs last summer, Leonard was viewed as a one-year rental for Toronto who was just going to bolt for Los Angeles this summer. But once Leonard led the Raptors to a title, momentum has built toward him possibly re-signing.

However, most still seem to think that Leonard is leaning toward the Clippers and that the Raptors would really have to convince him to stay.

Remember: Leonard grew up in Southern California, so his interest in Los Angeles certainly makes plenty of sense, especially in a young team like the Clippers that would instantly become championship contenders if Leonard joined.

The Mavericks won 33 games this past season.
