Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle didn't exactly hold back his thoughts on the New York Knicks firing David Fizdale, with the Mavs in a much better spot when it comes to the trajectory of the two franchises.

The Knicks made the decision to relieve Fizdale of his duties on Friday after the team's eighth straight loss, which put New York at 4-18 on the season.

Of course, very few people actually blame Fizdale for the franchise's problems, as the team hasn't had a winning record since making the playoffs in 2013.

Carlisle seems to be in agreement that Fizdale isn't the problem with the Knicks.

Here's what the Mavs coach had to say about the firing, courtesy of Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News:

Rick Carlisle: “I’m happy for Fizdale to be out of that terrible mess that he had nothing to do with.”

Other NBA coaches have reacted, and their thoughts are pretty similar. The Knicks just haven't been a well-run franchise, and everyone in the league knows that.

No matter who gets the Knicks coaching job, they're going to be dealing with the same frustrations and limitations that Fizdale had to deal with during his tenure in New York.

Meanwhile, the Mavs are in a much different spot. Carlisle has Dallas sitting second in the Western Conference at 15-6 on the season, with Luka Doncic emerging as one of the NBA's best players.

The Mavs have won four straight and are set for a Saturday showdown with the New Orleans Pelicans.
