The Dallas Mavericks could quickly get on the works with a buyout for veteran forward Zach Randolph, as they will not need him to report to the Mavs after being traded by the Sacramento Kings alongside Justin Jackson for Harrison Barnes, according to Marc Stein of The New York Times.

Randolph has yet to play this 2018-19 season after seeing a stint as a reserve during his first season with the Kings. The Mavs won't have much use for him, as they're getting younger and have an incoming big-time check to dole out to new acquisition Kristaps Porzingis.

Dealing Barnes helped them clear some hefty cap space, and while they will shell out some immediate cash by buying out Randolph, the reward will far exceed the cost.

Randolph can still contribute as a relentless rebounder and capable scorer from the forward position, as he put up 14.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per game in 2017-18, before sitting out this entire season.

He will likely have to wait his turn with more attractive options bound to hit the buyout market, but could certainly find a new home before the season is over.

Randolph holds career averages of 16.6 points on 47.1 percent shooting and 9.1 rebounds per game.
