Dirk Nowitzki no longer plays for the Dallas Mavericks, but the team's current European superstar Luka Doncic made sure to honor the retired star by using one of his moves on Tuesday night.

In the second quarter of the Mavericks' road game versus the New Orleans Pelicans at the Smoothie King Center, Doncic posted up Nicolo Melli at the right block. Flashing his fancy footwork, the 20-year-old Slovenian faked a spin move before launching a one-legged fadeaway that looks eerily familiar to Mavs fans all over the world.

Doncic made the off-balanced jumper, which was one of Nowitzki's signature moves during his 21-year tenure with Dallas.  Doncic and Nowitzki did spend one season together last year, so Luka might have gotten some pointers from the German legend himself.

Doncic is averaging 30.6 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 9.6 assists for the Mavs this season.
