Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic had plenty of reasons to celebrate on Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles.

Prior to the Mavs' matinee against the Los Angeles Lakers, Doncic had the chance to meet the 22-month-old Slovenian boy that he helped raise over $2.2 million.

It was determined that the boy — named Kris — needed Zolgensma gene therapy in 2018. After some initial crowdsurfing from Kris' parents, Doncic sought to bring assistance to the cause.

Per Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News:

Kris’ parents started a crowdfunding campaign, and when Doncic, the Slovenian national volleyball team and prominent Slovenian musicians got involved via social media, the fundraising dollars poured in – enough to cover the drug and three months of living expenses for the family in Los Angeles.

Kris received the gene therapy last week. He and his parents will need to remain in Los Angeles for three months so that doctors can monitor Kris’ progress.

Kris' parents lives in Los Angeles, making for a quick trip to the Staples Center to meet the man who helped their child's life.

After the warm pregame greeting, Doncic went out and balled on the Lakers. He scored 27 points while adding 10 assists, nine rebounds and three steals in a 114-100 win over a Laker team that had previously won 10 in a row.

Doncic hit a number of late jumpers to keep the Mavs well in front and cement the victory.

Luka and Dallas are not only winning basketball games, but they are seemingly winning new fans by the minute.
