The NBA community has shown strong opposition to holding the All-Star Weekend in North Carolina after a bill was passed earlier in the year that requires people to use the bathroom that matches the gender given on their birth certificate rather than the gender with which they identify.

Some have accused the bill as being discriminatory against the LGBT community.

Michael Jordan and the Hornets organization have already publicly stated their opposition to the bill, but Jordan decided to reiterate those comments in a new statement.

“As has been the case since the building opened, we will continue to ensure that all fans, players and employees feel welcome while at work or attending NBA games and events at Time Warner Cable Arena,” Jordan said in the statement.

Commissioner Adam Silver has said the NBA believes a change in the law is necessary to bring All-Star weekend to Charlotte next February.
