Kevin Durant and Mickael Gelabale went up against each other in Team USA and France’s Rio Olympics matchup to close off the initial round. These two go way back as they played together for the now-defunct Seattle Supersonics in Durant’s rookie season wherein Gelabale was a sophomore.

While it’s obvious that the then-greenhorn had the advantage when it comes to talent, the French forward had more confidence.

According to ESPN’s Kevin Pelton, P.J. Carlesimo, who was the Sonics’ coach back then, attested to the high level of belief that Gelabale had for himself.

But all the talk ends there. The comparison is day and night between these two players who played the same position.

In the 2007-2008 season, Mickael Gelabale only averaged 4.3 points in 11 minutes per ballgame, while Kevin Durant was in another league, averaging 20.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and a steal as a 19-year-old rookie.
