Mike Malone isn't over his firing from the Sacramento Kings just yet. Or, at least that's the conclusion his wardrobe points to.

Malone's canning from Sac-Town drew the ire of their fans, and the whole process became controversial. After going 28-54 with a flawed team in his first season, he was fired after a fairly promising 11-13 start to his second.

Malone, now the head coach for the Denver Nuggets, has changed his lifestyle since that day, albeit in a trivial way: he's refused to wear the color purple, and it's extended to his family.

From Zach Lowe's The Lowe Post Podcast:

“I have not (worn purple). And what I really love about that is that it's my wife's favorite color, and she hasn't (worn purple). My daughters haven't. It's almost become taboo, forbidden in our household.”

During his short stint with the Kings, Malone regularly wore purple ties and shirts. So, what happened to all of those?

“It's funny though. I have a lot of purple ties, because you try to work in your home colors. I think I donated them to the national suit drive last year.”

At least he didn't just throw them away.

The turnstiles have been running hot for coaches in Sacramento for the last decade. Opposed to some of the other guys they've brought in though, Malone actually grew close to and earned the respect of DeMarcus Cousins. New head coach Dave Joerger can only hope to be so lucky.
