When the season started, not a lot of people expected the Los Angeles Lakers to win a lot of games for the year, but with a winning record through their first 10 games, many started believing that their players were already maturing and would be able to speed up their rebuilding process.

However, the team is in the midst of a slump and has not able to sustain their early success. The Lakers lost 14 of their last 18 games and are now sitting on a 10-18 record.

Despite their recent woes, there are still some positive takeaways for team GM Mitch Kupchak. One of them is how new head coach Luke Walton has instilled his system to the team and the good relationship he's having with the players, but a lot of credit was also given by the veteran front office executive to Lou Williams who has been producing impressive numbers for the Lakers even if he didn't think he'll be able to thrive in their offensive sets before the season started.

“I wasn't sure how Lou would fit into a motion offense, where there's so much passing and movement. I think you can say that our most valuable player has been Lou Williams.”

The 6-foot-1 guard has been on a tear lately and averaging 19.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game while coming off the bench. He has been very instrumental to the team and has allowed them to compete even against the best squads in the league.

Their record might not speak on how the team has shown signs of being a contender in the future, but with a veteran like Williams in the fold, he can be the leader and mentor the young guns need to help them grow as a professional and leading by example as well by continuing to produce the incredible numbers he's had so far.
