Free-agent outfielder Starling Marte is one of the hottest names on the open market this winter. While it's usually pitchers who come off the board this early in the offseason, Marte could be a rare star position player who signs a big-money deal before the expiration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement on December 1st. Via MLB Network's Jon Heyman:

Starling Marte is coming off a fantastic campaign where he split time between the Miami Marlins and Oakland Athletics, hitting .308 with 12 homers and 27 doubles. He was also a wizard on the basepaths, swiping 47 bags on 52 attempts.

At 33-years-old, he isn't the youngest, but the outfielder is showing no signs of slowing down. He's a career .289 hitter who hits for average, power, and brings tons of speed to the table. Defensively, Marte is also phenomenal. There are numerous teams showing interest in him right now as Heyman noted, including the Phillies, Marlins, Yankees, and Astros. Given his versatile skillset, Starling Marte would have no problem fitting with any of these clubs.

He also plays center field, which is an immediate need for a lot of organizations. Marte was traded to Oakland midway through the 2021 season and proceeded to slash .316 in 56 games. Since he was moved at the deadline, there was no qualifying offer on the table, which makes his situation unique as well.
