Outfielder Starling Marte could be reunited with the Miami Marlins. The free agent has garnered heavy interest from a plethora of teams, including his former organization, as his skillset is highly desired. Per Jon Heyman of MLBNetwork:

Marte played for both the Marlins and Athletics this season, and displayed his ability to hit the ball, garnering a batting average of .310, while also stealing bases at a high clip. On the defensive side, the 33 year old showed off a strong arm that could certainly be useful.

The Marlins are coming off of a 67-95 season, which was one of the worst records in the National League. Yet the team provides a spark of hope for free agents to join them, whether it be their promising pitching staff or their developing young core. Pitcher Sandy Alcantara displayed flashes of dominance, while Trevor Rodgers was an All-Star this past season. Infielder Jazz Chisholm made a step in the right direction regarding his offensive ability as well.

The Marlins and Starling Marte could be a good match. Marte could not only reunite with an organization he enjoyed playing for, but also be the face of the franchise. Miami would be getting a veteran with valuable experience youngsters would appreciate. The outfielder would aid in expediting the growth of a young Marlins team.
