The MLB lockout continues, with the owners and players still failing to reach an agreement on Monday. That being said, Spring Training will most certainly start later now, but this isn't the only threat being fired at the MLBPA.
Per Jeff Passan and Evan Drellich, the league is now willing to cancel a month of MLB regular-season games:
MLB suggested in the first meeting with the MLBPA today that the league is willing to cancel a month's worth of games. What that means, or whether it's simply a threat, is unclear, but players have taken it as a clear threat.
The rhetoric is ratcheting up. As @EvanDrellich said, MLB suggested in the first meeting with the MLBPA today that the league is willing to cancel a month's worth of games. What that means, or whether it's simply a threat, is unclear, but players have taken it as a clear threat.

This is extremely concerning for the sport because its popularity is already dwindling in North America. Now, they're at risk of playing a shortened season. The players are clearly upset over their pay decreasing across the last four years, while MLB owners have essentially not taken their concerns seriously by any means.
At this point, it feels like there is little progress in talks to come to an agreement with Opening Day around just a month away. The 2021 campaign is in serious jeopardy of being shorter and the players are clearly taking the MLB's latest message as a legitimate threat.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the coming days.
